Jean Taylor | Betty Strathman Pagett  | Jim Moscoso | Jody Berces

Jean first volunteered to serve as the Chairperson of our Capital Campaign in 2003 to raise $250,000 for the renovation of the building that currently houses the Helen Vine Detox Center . After its opening, she served on the Advisory Board until 2005. At that time, she joined the Board of Directors and was elected Vice President of the board.

Career-wise, Jean was a teacher and a counselor with a Lifetime Credential to teach K through College. She earned a B.A. in American History, Magna Cum Laude, a B.S. in Education, and a M.A. in Psychology, Cum Laude. She taught 16 years in the Mill Valley Public Schools.

His volunteer work includes meetings at the Helen Vine Detox Center and the Suicide Prevention Hotline.

As a community activist, Jean has served as Chairperson, Marin County Commission on Homelessness; Co-chair, Capital Campaign for the New Beginnings Center, Co-chair for the Next Key project, and served on the Board of Directors of Senior Access and the Marin Arts Council. Jean is a founding member of The Center for Judicial Excellence and currently serves on its Board of Directors and on the Suicide Prevention Advisory Board. Jean received the MLK Humanitarian of the Year Award in 2005 and has a scholarship awarded annually in her name through the Marin Education Fund.

Betty Pagett joined the staff of EAH in April, 1991 after 10 years in Marin County as minister of First United Methodist Church, San Rafael. She is the Community Acceptance Strategies Trainer for the Non-Profit Housing Association and helped form the national Campaign for Affordable Housing. In 1997 she received the Beryl Buck Award for building humane, inclusive, democratic community.

Ms. Pagett's responsibilities for EAH include public policy and public education, working with local, State and national organizations on land use, work force housing and affordable housing issues. She has been an active part of The Marin Consortium for Work Force Housing, working to reduce barriers and increase availability of housing for the local work force. She co-chairs Marin Housing Council and participates in the Marin Environmental Housing Dialogue.

Prior to eighteen years in parish ministry as an educator and pastor, Ms. Pagett developed educational materials and training events relating to national and international issues. She holds a B.A. Degree from University of the Pacific in International Relations and English, and two masters' degrees from Union Theological Seminary in New York with a year of study at Isabella Thoburn College.

Jim has served over 27 years in local government. He is the Code Enforcement Officer, FEMA, and Office of Emergency Services administrator for the City of Larkspur.

He is and ordained minister and serves as chaplain for San Rafael and Twin Cities Police Departments.

His volunteer work includes meetings at the Helen Vine Detox Center and the Suicide Prevention Hotline.

He and his wife, Jane, created and implemented alcohol/drug recovery programs in Marin, San Francisco and Russia.

JODY BERCES, JD

Ms. Berces has worked in the non-profit arena for years and currently is employed by Buckelew Programs. She is a member of the recovery community.
